On Friday, June 5, 2015, Recreation & Parks staff worked side by side with the Operations and Maintenance Forestry crews to develop the city’s first nature play area within its park system. Willowstone Park is one of several day camp locations and has struggled to find areas in the park with adequate shade for active and passive play. Once the Nature Play area was installed, campers and staff started finding ways to use the space. Youth can now play active games like Fugitive and Capture the Flag in the woods, build forts, and take their daily reading time in the woods where it is quiet and peaceful.
